Description
Sculptor Jim Fawkes did a slew of these cute/sexy figures. Alas, there will no new designs from him. JF did himself in many years ago. This resin kit (and I HATE resin) dates back to 1994. It consists of two pieces (guess which). The difficulty is knowing when to attach the pieces and when to keep painting. Assembly can get in the way of an easy paint job.
I took at least three stabs at painting Boobira, and I guess this is the last. I wanted this ready several Halloweens ago and it still isn't finished. Her shoes, jewelry and her fingernails aren't done. For contrast, I used dark blue for her dress and smoke for her stockings instead of black. I wish now she had been cast in THREE pieces so I could paint her more easily.
One of the reasons I took so long to finish, was that a critical stage, I sprayed what I thought was clear finish on the figure----only to find out later that some silver acrylic was still in the color cup or was in the airbrush nozzle or something...and when it dried, the figure was glittery with sliver all over. The reason I finished was that I'm waiting on a more demanding kit. THIS TIME, I put away the airbrush and did the entire figure by hand, using the airbrush only to apply sealer which I made sure had no paint in it.
